Gifted with a natural flair for dance , Shatabdi, daughter of Shri Suhrid Mallik and Smt. Mamata Mallik, has blossomed into one of the finest exponents of Odissi Dance in the younger generation under Guru Deba Prasad Das Gharana. Her initiation in dance was at an early age of 4 under Guru Gajendra Panda. Later, she became a disciple of Guru Shri Durga Charan Ranbir.
Inspired by her grand mother Smt. Milan Bala Das and her uncle Shri Ramakanta Swain and his family in Bhubaneswar, Shatabdi chose Odissi as her life. For her parents and brother's constant effort, she is a recipient of both junior and Senior National Scholarship as well as an empaneled artist of ICCR in the field of Odissi Dance. Born in a Bengali family and brought up in the land of Kalinga, Satabdi has a special knack in Odisha's heritage, food, language, culture and attire. She is well versed in Oriya literature.
Shatabdi is a Graduate in Economics Hons. from Presidency College, Kolkata and a final year MBA student of HIT, Kolkata. Apart from Dance and Academic qualifications, she has shown keen interest in Sports. She has always been the winner in flat race of 400 and 200 meters organized in school and college levels.

Shatabdi is amongst the favourite and dearest disciples of Guru Shri Durga Charan Ranbir, who is the most celebrated protege of Late Dr. Deba Prasad Das.He is responsible for popularizing the Deba Prasad Gurukul globally. His choreographed items like Dasa Maha Vidya, Sapta Matrika, Aditya Archana, Bal Gopalastak, Naba Rasa etc. to name a few are widely acclaimed by audiences. He has been awarded by various prestigious organizations world wide. Shatabdi came under his guidance in the year 1997. Since then he molded her into a front ranking performer. She continues to visit her Guru's place, Bhubaneswar every month to train herself and stays in the Gurukul.

With the blessings of her Guru and her parents, Shatabdi has fulfilled her mother's dream by establishing her own dream school SHATABDI NRITYAYAN in Kolkata, where she is now engaged in teaching Odissi Dance to many aspirants of different age groups since 2001. She trains her students in the same way, she has been trained by her guru and her mother. Love,care and sincerity has always been part and parcel of her teachings. Since she started teaching from a very young age, Shatabdi is a role model to her students and their guardians.
